An investigation in southern Illinois has led to the arrest of a Mount Vernon man. 22-year-old Michael W. McClanahan’s been arrested for criminal sexual assault and possession of child pornography.This stems from a complaint made to the sheriff’s office on December 5, alleging McClanahan was threatening a woman.The investigation continues.
A gubernatorial appointment: Steve Hodge, of Sikeston, was appointed to the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council. Hodge has been employed by Southeast Missouri Residential Services (SEMORS) since 2000. In Cape Girardeau two people had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire heavily damaged two homes on the 1100 block of Merriwether late Saturday evening. Fire Chief Morris says the fire appears to have started due to a wood-burning stove in an attached garage in one of the homes.
