Stolen Guns Arrests

New Madrid County Deputies have arrested an adult and took three juveniles into custody after they stopped a vehicle with several guns inside. Investigators say deputies stopped the vehicle on October 8 in Lilbourn.Two of the guns had previously been reported stolen.

CG Water Rate Increase

According to the Southeast Missourian Cape Girardeau City Council approved a 10% water-rate increase, effective in November, to help fund $120 million in water-system improvements after voters raised the annual cap on rate hikes.

The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center has a new medical center director. Mr. Kevin Bass is an Army Veteran and comes from the Department of Defense, where he spent more than 30 years in the Medical Service Corps.

CG Man Arrested

A second person’s been arrested in connection with a shooting in September that led to a crash.Dashawn Johnson, 19, of Cape Girardeau, was charged with felony domestic assault, felony armed criminal action and felony unlawful use of a weapon.He is currently being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

SEMO Inaugurates New President

The Southeast Missouri State University community inaugurated its 19th president, Dr. Brad Hodson, on Friday at the Show Me Center. New State Attorney General Sworn In

The state’s Attorney General Catherine L. Hanaway was ceremonially sworn in as the 45th Attorney General of Missouri during a ceremony in Missouri State Capitol Monday. Hanaway, is the first woman to serve as Missouri Attorney General.
