According to a recount that was held on Monday, Republican candidate Nick Darter has been declared the winner of the Sheriff’s race in Dunklin County. Ballots cast in the race for the Missouri Primary Election on August 6 were recounted Monday afternoon at the courthouse.

MO Man Arrested

Meanwhile, the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control has arrested Billy VanDeven, 60, of Patton, MO. VanDeven was formally charged with assault, kidnapping and property damage after he turned himself in to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s office where he posted a 25-hundred dollar bond.
