A southern Illinois man Timothy Gassel, 33, of Murphysboro, was sentenced to 45 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a woman’s murder in October 2024. Gassel had previously pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in Autumn Cole‘s death.He’ll serve 100 percent of the sentence.In May 2024, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about a woman being shot. The caller reported the suspect, Gassel, had been arguing with Cole and the caller’s husband witnessed the shooting.
