On the topic of fire safety city officials in Cape Girardeau have approved the allocation of funds to help the fire department improve a necessary piece of their equipment.At the Monday night city council meeting officials discussed the need for a new pump truck for the department. And although the union members would like more units to be replaced, the council decided to focus on the most important truck first and then move onto the others as the budget allows.
