A homicide investigation is underway in Charleston after an incident late Friday night. The Charleston Department of Public Safety said it received several calls about gunshots in the area of S. Locust and S. Green Street. When they arrived, officers found a vehicle that had crashed into a fence on S. Franklin St. Investigators learned that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on W. Cypress St. when one or more suspects began shooting at it as it drove by. They also found a man inside, later identified as 21-year-old Tristen Mackins of Mounds, Illinois, who had passed away.
