U.S. Senator Josh Hawley Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Disaster Management, sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Acting Administrator David Richardson following reports of delays in FEMA’s response to the May 16, 2025 tornadoes in the state. Senator Hawley wrote, “I write regarding the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s response to the May 16, 2025 tornadoes. St. Louis city officials have reported delays in the distribution of federal assistance and Senator Hawley is requesting specific information on FEMA’s response to the St. Louis tornadoes.
