Caruthersville police say they arrested a man after he tried to attack a woman with a hammer. The 40-year-old man was booked into the Pemiscot County Justice Center on a 24-hour hold for the felony charges of second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. According to the Caruthersville Police Department, the incident happened early on Wednesday morning at a home on 6th Street. Investigators say the woman was locked inside her car, and officers say the vehicle had significant damage caused by the hammer.
