The Jackson mayor and Board of Aldermen met Monday for their meeting, one of the agenda items was to approve tax rate changes for various city services. The amount of money needed to be raised for general revenue purposes by taxing Jackson property is $1.91 million. An additional $401,000 is to be raised for parks and recreation services. For both cemetery and band needs, the city requires around $287,000 apiece.To accrue these amounts, the city will establish tax rates as follows: 58.76 cents per $100 assessed valuation for general revenue, 12.33 cents per $100 for parks and recreation services and 7.59 cents per $100 for both band and cemetery purposes.
