A project to redevelop a commerical historic district in Cape Girardeau could receive significant funding from the State of Missouri.One of the Legislature’s appropriations bills – House Bill 19 – has $11 million earmarked for “the planning, design, construction and/or renovation and project management of a comprehensive redevelopment project in the historic commercial district in a city with more than thirty-six thousand five hundred but fewer than forty thousand inhabitants.” The bill has already sailed through the House ofo Representatives.
