Cape Girardeau Police responded to the 1000-Block of Hickory St. for a report of a weapon violation, recently. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with the homeowner who advised a friend was in the basement with a firearm. Officers identified the man in the basement as, 31 year old Anthony Harris of Cape Girardeau.Officers made contact with Harris in the basement where he was taken into custody. During the investigation, officers located a handgun with an extended magazine along with suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. A records check of Harris indicated he is prohibited from possessing any firearms.
