The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to an emergency report concerning an apartment fire located in the 100 block of Clark Street Wednesday afternoon caused by a cooking incident. Firefighters observed visible flames pouring out of a lower apartment window, in addition to identifying a person in a second-floor window. Firefighters quickly deployed a ladder to rescue two people trapped in the building. The estimated loss is valued at 100-thousand dollars.
