A lawsuit against the Jackson, MO school district claims a misunderstanding led to a lengthy suspension of a 7th grader. The lawsuit, filed by Freedom Center of Missouri on behalf of the 12-year-old and her mother, is connected to a reported social media threat against Jackson Schools earlier in 2024. The incident caused the Jackson R-II School District to cancel classes the following day and led to the suspension of the student for 180 days, according to the lawsuit.
