Cursive Writing in MO

There’s a legislative effort to preserve cursive handwriting among Missouri’s student populations. Marshall Griffin has details:

Two pre-filed bills in the Missouri House would mandate that all public and charter schools in the state provide instruction in cursive writing so that students can handwrite “legible documents” by the time they finish the fifth grade. The proposals would also require that students pass a test showing that they can both read and write in cursive. A pre-filed bill in the Missouri Senate does not go quite that far – it says that public and charter schools “may” provide instruction in cursive handwriting. The Missouri legislative session begins January 8th. Marshall Griffin, Missourinet.
