The Missouri State Highway Patrol will stop posting online the names of people involved in traffic crashes, boating crashes, and drownings in its incident reports. In a statement, the Highway Patrol cites “scam incidents across the state” where con artists targeted people, crash victims or other people associated with them, possibly collecting information on them from the Patrol’s online reports. The names of those in crashes and drowning incidents will now only be available through the Missouri Highway Patrol’s Public Records Center.
