Scammers Alert

Federal agencies are warning the public, including in Missouri, to beware of scammers taking advantage of people looking to help hurricane victims in Florida, North Carolina, and elsewhere. In a statement, the U.S. Justice Department says various types of scams often appear after a natural disaster, including fraudulent charities that imitate the names of legitimate ones. They also include scammers posing as government officials who offer disaster relief in exchange for money or personal information. For more details visit the Justice Department’s website.
