The former Cape Girardeau City councilman 54 year old Rhett Pierce facing federal drug charges is no longer charged in state court and is currently out on bond for federal court charges. Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Welker said the decision came after a review of the federal indictment against Pierce showed he was charged for the same conduct in both state and federal court. That indictment charges Pierce with possession of meth with intent to distribute and being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.A court deadline for pre-trial motions in his case is set for December 5.
