Some Missouri childcare centers have not received payments from the state in several months and they want the state to pay up now. The money they are owed is for care that they provide to low-income, special needs, and foster kids. The Missouri Office of Childhood has been dealing with glitches after moving from an old payment system to a new one. State Education Commissioner Karla Eslinger tells a state House committee that she’s sorry for the system’s problems.Eslinger says once the system is up and running, there will be a third-party review to find out what went wrong.
